This kayaking trip is perfect for everyone, both young and old, who appreciates nature and peacefulness.

We start with a short kayaking trip along Czarna Hańcza River, then an individual sightseeing of the Post-Camaldolese monastery complex, a place where Pope John Paul II rested during his pilgrimage to Poland in 1999. From here extends admiring view on the panorama of Wigry Lake.

Life is simple. Just add water 😉

We provide 1-, 2- and 3-person. kayaks, transportation, parking area in Augustów.


From June till September 1-day kayaking trip take place every Friday; the minimum number of participants – 8 ppl.

For the other days of the week, please contact our team. There is a possibility to start the trip from Wigry Lake; SZOT kayaking marina.

8:00 AM – meeting in SZOT Base in Augustów; transportation to the starting point.
9:30 AM – our starting point – Wigry Lake; SZOT kayaking marina.


Kayaking route: Wigry – Maćkowa Ruda   /10 km

Our starting point is the area of Wigry National Park – Wigry Lake; Postaw Lake; Czarna Hańcza River meandering among tall reeds and water plants. While passing some small villages, the river occasionally divides, and thus we can see multiple small grassy islands along the way.

Duration: approx. 3 hours.

2 PM – ending point in Maćkowa Ruda; transportation to Wigry.
2:30-5:30 PM – free time, additional attractions:

  • An individual sightseeing of the Post-Camaldolese monastery complex
  • Rest in SZOT kayaking marina – water-sports equimpent rental
  • Tavern in Monastery’s Garden
  • „TRYTON” boat cruises on Wigry Lake

4.00 PM – main harbour at the foot of the Monastery on Wigry Lake. Duration: approx. 1 hour.

The cruise will take you across Hańcza Bay where you can see such rare wild fowl as egrets and cormorants. We also stop in Plosa, near the deepest part of Wigry Lake, where the water depth reaches 73m.

5:45 PM – meeting in SZOT kayaking marina.
6:00 PM – transportation to Augustów.

Price includes

  • seat in a double SZOT KOMFORT kayak with paddling gear (paddle, life jacket, soft seat),
  • transporation: Augustów – Wigry, Maćkowa Ruda – Wigry, Wigry – Augustów (option with starting point in Augustów)
  • transporation: Maćkowa Ruda – Wigry (option with starting point in Wigry).

Place at the parking area in SZOT Base in Augustów – for free.

Paid separately

  • Wigry National Park ticket – 7 PLN /regular, 3,5 PLN/reduced; available to purchase in SZOT Base
  • renting a single SZOT kayak – 10 PLN
  • renting a single CAROLINA kayak or kayaking in a double kayak individually – 20 PLN,
  • for families with children, we recommend 3-person Prijon CRIUSER III kayaks; for 3 adults – 3-person TERCET kayaks
  • renting a waterproof bag (55l) or barrel (3,5l, 10,4l) – 6 PLN/piece + 50 PLN deposit
  • optional accident insurance (AXA TUiR, 20,000 PLN) – 3 PLN/person
  • available to purchase in the SZOT office: maps, waterproof phone cases, sport gloves, sun hats and raincoats.

  • Before starting the tour, a short briefing will be provided, organizational and safety issues; kayaking instructions.
  • Trip members must be in an appropriate state of health, which allows to participate in a kayaking trip. Kids and teenagers can take part in a kayaking trip only under supervision of their parents or legal age guardians.
  • For those who have not sat in a kayak before, we offer short routes with the guidance of a kayaking instructor.
  • We suggest you to take: comfortable, lightweight footwear – sandals/ slides/ water shoes, mosquito repellant, fleece sweatshirts, warm clothes suitable for night weather conditions, fingerless gloves, raincoats, and of course, a GOOD MOOD!
